The role of sulphur-containing compounds in the pathogenesis and treatment of CNLD

THE ROLE OF SULPHUR-CONTAINING COMPOUNDS IN THE PATHOGENESIS
AND TREATMENT OF CNLD

V. N. Solopov, I. I. Reznikov, A. G. Chuchalin

Summary

The role of sulphur-containing compounds in the pathogenesis of internal diseases, and chronic non-specific lung diseases (CNLD) in particular, has been discussed. Data are given on the use of agents whose mechanism of action is based on interaction between sulphur-containing groups of organs and tissues. The diagnostic significance of determination of the concentration of free sulphhydryl groups in the patients’ organism is discussed. Data are given on the dynamic changes in the content of sulphhydryl groups in the sputum of CNLD patients. Clinical examples are discussed.

Effect of lasolvan on the mucociliary transport

EFFECT OF LASOLVAN ON THE MUCOCILIARY TRANSPORT

V. N. Solopov, N. A. Kolganova

Summary

The effect of a hemoptisic agent lasolvan on the parameters of mucociliary transport (the rate of bronchial content evacuation and sputum adhesion properties) was studied in patients with chronic non-specific pulmonary diseases. The rate of mucociliary transport was assessed by the time of excretion of the bronchial contents stained with an indicator substance (the patient’s own hemoglobin). Lasolvan adeguately restored bronchial drainage in patients with moderate disorders of mucociliary transport but failed to produce the same effect in the presence of serious disorders, which were referred to their decompensation.

Modern broncholytic and expectorant therapy in patients with chronic nonspecific pulmonary diseases

MODERN BRONCHOLYTIC AND EXPECTORANT THERAPY IN PATIENTS WITH
CHRONIC NONSPECIFIC PULMONARY DISEASES

V. N. Solopov, N. A. Kolganova, A. G. Chuchalin

Summary

Correction of the obstructive syndrome in patients with chronic nonspecific pulmonary diseases using modern broncholysants and expectorants is considered. The chief mechanisms of the formation of the obstructive syndrome (bronchospastic and obturation ones as a result of mucociliary transport disorder) are described. The authors propose a scheme of differential clinicolaboratory diagnosis of the above mechanisms of bronchial permeability disorder. Modern broncholysants and expectorants are characterized, mechanisms of their action and practical aspects of their application in chronic nonspecific pulmonary diseases are discussed.
